The team at Hearing and Audiology Services has been performing comprehensive hearing evaluations for over 30 years. Comprehensive hearing evaluation is the first step to better hearing health. A comprehensive hearing evaluation begins with our audiologist asking you questions about your hearing health and communication needs followed by several kinds of hearing tests. The tests include: otoscopic examination, tympanometry, pure tone threshold testing and speech recognition in quiet and in noise. This battery of tests allows the audiologist to find out what degree of hearing loss you have, what type of hearing loss you have, if there are medical problems that need to be addressed and to what extent hearing impairment may be negatively affecting communication or conversations.
For the patient completing these tests means simply following directions. Each test we do will be explained along the way. For some of the tests you will be asked to listen to very soft sounds. In order to accurately measure hearing, these tests are conducted in a sound proof booth.
